I am hooked to books- and writing. This space is for me to explore the world of writing, authors and books. They have given me countless hours of enjoyment. I hope they do the same to you.
Writing is my passion and has become my second career. Earlier I was a corporate executive, management consultant and executive coach for three and a half decades. Writing to be read is what I hope to do for the rest of my life…..
My debut novel, a psychological thriller, “It Can’t Be You” was published in November 2010. My second book, a collection of short stories set in contemporary India is called “He Sees Everything & Other Short Stories”.
“Lucky For Some, 13″ was launched in December 2012 was my second thriller and third publication.
My fourth book, “Let The Dead Stay Dead” a psychological novel with elements of suspense and mystery was published on Wattpad.
My current project is “Obedience Unto Death” a story in the alternate history genre.

Entrants for the 2011 National Novel Writing Month can win a prize for the first line of their novel! Entry into the competition is free and the cash prizes are $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd, $25 for 3rd, and a copy of the book “Your Writing Coach” for seven honorable mentions.

Some of you may be wondering why we are running a first line contest? “Just to encourage writers to get started,” says Jurgen. “We don’t have any official link with NaNoWriMo but I like to think we have the same spirit of playfulness. And it’s going to be fun to read them all.”
What makes a first line great?
“The most basic thing is that it should make you want to read the second line,” Jurgen says. “If every sentence makes you want to read the next one, you’ll suddenly realize it’s four in the morning and you’ve read the whole book. That’s what every writer hopes will happen with his or her book.”
The first line can be funny, dramatic, scary, or anything else, as long as it’s interesting.
“I’d suggest not starting with the weather unless you have a particularly intriguing way of describing it,” he advises. “Also don’t have your character look into the mirror and describe what he or she looks like. That’s clumsy exposition. Other than that, anything goes.”
Jurgen will create a short list but the top three winners will be chosen by agent Julian Friedmann, of London’s Blake Friedmann Literary Agency, and an editor to be confirmed.
The deadline for entries is midnight Sunday, December 4, 2011 and the winners will be announced on December. 15.

Thanks, Lisa. I chose not to go with one theme for that very reason. Having no theme gives me the flexibility to post on a wide variety of subjects:)
