Time flies and very soon, I’ll be celebrating the second anniversary of the launch of my debut novel, the psychological thriller, “It Can’t Be You.” It brings back many memories as for every writer the first published novel is a special creation, quite irrespective of what others may think of it!
I am awfully excited to present to you the front cover for my next thriller, “Lucky For Some, 13” .
To my mind, the front cover should give potential readers some idea of what lies between the covers of the book. It should grab the attention of the potential reader. It should make the potential reader want to see/read more. Continue reading “Here’s The Cover!”
We now have just a week to go before we blast off for NaNoWriMo 2012. The objective is to write a novel of 50,000 words during the calendar month of November 2012, starting from scratch. Some choose to be “rebels” and do short stories instead. I have chosen to be part of this rebel band this year.
As a 11 year old in 1962, the Indo-China War made a deep impression on me. Today, exactly 50 years after that fateful day in 1962 when Chinese troops entered Indian territory, here are my thoughts, obviously gathered later after a lot of reading on the subject, through Col. Here’s a confession. Yes, I got to admit I am a sucker for the National Novel Writing Month, popularly called NaNoWriMo. I was initially hesitant about signing up for NaNo this year. Let me hasten to add that I have great regard for this initiative. It won’t be wrong to say that a large share for whatever little success I have enjoyed as a writer clearly goes to NaNoWriMo and all the Wrimos who I have interacted with. For the uninitiated, “Wrimos” are the folks who take part in NaNoWriMo.
If you think you can sit back and relax now that your precious book has been sent off to the publishers, you are in for a major surprise. The more difficult part of selling the book kicks in right now. There is so much that you need to do as the author. If you are an author waiting for your first book to be published, have a look at Terry Cordingley’s post ” Five Things You Should Do Before Your Book Is Released.” It contains some basic yet crucial steps which you cannot afford to ignore.

I had an interesting experience recently. I was invited to judge a contest organised by WriteUp Cafe. The topic given to the participants was ” A Letter to Yourselves”. There were 23 participants and I had a tough time judging the three winners.
