They may be men, they may be women, they may be young, they may be old, they may be sloppy, they may be bold, but they are all yours. Yes, the characters you create in your books are yours. I thought of an idea and have it up in my FB Page “Prem Rao, Story Teller.” I put up a poll, “Who is your favourite character in ‘Lucky For Some, 13?'” Continue reading “Creating Characters”

Thank you for having read and supported my debut novel, “It Can’t Be You.” I am glad to tell you that my second thriller, “Lucky For Some, 13” was launched on December 1, 2012. You can get more information about the book, and the book launch at my site, “Prem Rao, Story Teller” where I am trying to consolidate all my writing work..
I could feel the tension ease palpably as the book launch function of my second thriller, “Lucky For Some, 13” came to an end recently. It was also the time to summarize a few key learnings which might be of use to budding writers, if not to other writers. “Writing a 87,000 + word novel is pretty easy, its writing the less than 200 word back cover copy that is tough,” I quipped. There’s a lot of truth in what I said. Ask any author.
Till now the focus was arranging for the book launch for my second thriller, “Lucky For Some, 13.” In today’s abbreviated language, I hear it being called, “LFS13.” I am so glad the book launch went off very well. It was held on December 1, 2012 at Reliance TimeOut in Mantri Square. The first copy of the book was presented by Mr. Bijou Kurien, President & CEO, Lifestyle, Reliance Retail to Mr. & Mrs. K. Unnikrishnan, the Guests of Honour. You may like to see the pictures of the book launch here. Continue reading “LFS 13 Launched!”
I am delighted that the invitation to the launch of my second thriller, “Lucky For Some, 13” has been released by Reliance TimeOut. The Guests of Honour will be Mr. & Mrs. Unnikrishnan, parents of the late Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Ashoka Chakra. This will be on December 1, 2012 at Reliance TimeOut @Mantri Square.
In the meanwhile, as is the norm these days, on line sales are on, pardon the pun! It was very gratifying to see that LFS13 ranks #1 among the “New Releases” in Amegabooks, where it is still available for a very reasonable Rs. 98/- Really, at that price, it is a steal!
- Invitation for Book Launch
It ‘s very interesting to see how authors plan and execute their work. There is no prescribed rules for success. You do what works best for you. This clearly emerges from author interviews. Recently I featured in one with Reshmy Pillai over at ” The Tales Pensieve.”
In the meanwhile, I wanted to interview authors myself, especially those like me, who write thrillers. The first writer to accept my invitation to be interviewed on this blog was Alex Shaw. Thanks so much, Alex, for sharing your views with me.
As the days whiz past, there is so much that needs to be done. Preparing for a book launch is exciting but demanding at the same time. You need to pay attention to so many details. I am delighted that the day is coming up fast. On December 1, my second thriller, “Lucky For Some, 13” will be released at Reliance TimeOut @ Mantri Square, one of Bangalore’s snazzy malls at 6.00 p.m. Continue reading “See You At The Book Launch on December 1”
When as an author you write a story, you place events in a particular time frame. It is difficult, if not impossible for you to predict all that will happen in the future. Let me explain with an example to make my point clear. In my latest thriller, “Lucky For Some, 13” a terrorist group orchestrates attacks in Goa and Bangalore in India in January and September 2010 respectively. It is a work of fiction and you and I know the attacks as described in the book, did not take place. Continue reading “The flux of time: An Author’s Challenge”
Here’s a video I made to announce the launch of my second thriller, “Lucky For Some, 13.” I hope you will like it. Your comments and feedback are welcome as always.
