No, not breaking out of a habit as in wanting to quit smoking or give up on excessively fatty, but wonderfully yummy, food! I thought I would share today some ideas on getting out of habits that diminish the power of your writing.
As you know, It Can’t Be You is available on Amazon.com. This is for the Kindle version. I am amazed at how popular Kindle seems to be, especially in the US. I guess in India the relatively lower costs make buying physical books still very popular as compared to the Kindle version.
Now, It Can’t Be You is available with a 20 % discount on Amazon UK.
Done with your novel? Writing work over? Great, because the tough part starts now! If you thought writing the novel was the difficult part and it will be smooth sailing from hereon till the book is published amongst a burst of flashes from the Press cameras at the book launch, you are in for a surprise. The tough part begins now.
How would you feel if your name features in a list that includes the names of many authors you have greatly admired over the years? I am thrilled that It Can’t Be You currently is No. 33 in Flipkart’s list of 17296 titles in the Suspense category. It had moved up to No. 32 a few days ago. In a sense I guess a book is never fully complete. I say so because the scope for improving your writing is boundless. Yet, we need to stop somewhere as there is no limit to the extent of editing that you can do. My second book is getting ready. Yes, “Lucky For Some, Thirteen” is now almost complete. I would like to share some learnings today. Continue reading “Learnings As A Writer”
Some days ago, I had mentioned that It Can’t Be You was doing rather well on Flipkart, a very popular online business. I am glad to say the trend continues. It is now being offered at a 5 % discount on Flipkart. What pleases me more is that it has moved up to No. 33 out of 17310 titles listed under the “Suspense” category in Flipkart.
Jeffrey, Lord Archer really needs no introduction. I had the privilege of meeting him when he was in Bangalore recently for the launch of his new book ” Only Time Will Tell”. There was a huge crowd at Reliance TimeOut that evening. This is part of his whirlwind tour that takes him to 16 cities in 5 countries in 4 weeks.

By any account, It Can’t Be You seems to be doing well on Flipkart. Was delighted to find that it currently ranks 38 out of the 17202 titles under “Suspense” in the Flipkart site. Most thrilling of all is to be on the same list (though admittedly not in the same league) as writers I have admired like: Ken Follett, Dan Brown, John Grisham, Arthur Hailey, James Patterson, Stephen King, Mario Puzo and John Le Carre amongst others!
