I first thought of what I would write for this year’s NaNoWriMo when I was recuperating after my heart bypass surgery in July 2010. I was advised to walk about for a little while every day, starting with 3 minutes and going on to reach 45 minutes, which is now the prescribed duration of my daily walk- for as long as I live! While walking I naturally thought of NaNo 2010 and a few ideas came to me which looked quite promising.

Have you made up your mind about NaNoWriMo? Are you in for it this year? You need to decide soon because November 1 fast approaches. I am sure people do NaNo for their own reasons. All of us may be keen on writing but all of us have different lives to lead, different responsibilities and consequently different kinds of schedules.
NaNo 2010 starts just 5 days from now. Are you ready with your story plan? Are you staying with the structure you first thought of? Where will your story be set and in what period? Who are the principal characters? What genre would your story be in? These are some of the questions that come to mind as time marches on! There she comes! NaNo 2010 is around the corner- just a little more than 10 days before we burst out of our starting blocks in the National Novel Writing Month, beginning November 1. I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience of NaNo last year. This post is useful to me as a reminder of things to do and not do. It could perhaps, be of help to others attempting NaNo too- especially those making their debut runs.

National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo for short was not new to me. I had come across it some years ago but couldn’t find( or should I more accurately say “make” ) time to take part in it. Very simply, people attempt to write at least 50,000 words of a novel in the month of November each year.
